EDUCATION....WHERE WE WENT WRONG AND HOW CAN WE FIX IT.
WHEN THEY DONT CARE BECAUSE THEY DONT HAVE TO :-
( ) Late Steve Jobs once said that the problem with many of our schools is that they don’t care because they don’t have to.

( ) And that is exactly what I have experienced. The government schools and colleges are proofs of this.

( ) My own mother is a Professor in a government college and she noted that 90% of the professors don’t teach seriously.

( ) They deliberately teach in a sloppy manner so that children don’t attend and bunk lectures and  so that they can sit in the staff room and gossip.

( ) When my mother questioned, they replied that students nowadays are not interested.

( ) But I ask why should students nowadays be interested in attending to teachers who are not interested in teaching.

( ) The problem with these government teachers. They don’t have to care. Once you hire them, you just cannot fire them.

( ) They can keep exploiting the system upto a certain boundaries. Are they necessarily doing something illegal ? No.

( ) Can you sue them for teaching sloppily. No. They will put the blame on the students and students will put the blame on the teachers and so on and a perpetual circle of blame-game will ensue.

( ) So how to fix this ? Billions of tax-payer money is spent on public education and instead of making education fun…it makes education hatable for the students.

LACK OF CHOICE OF TEACHERS FOR STUDENTS IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS .
( ) The way to end this is to give children a choice of from which teacher they want to learn from.

( ) And the government schools usually don’t do this. The rich kids get this choice. Parents don’t mind paying and so they send their children to the best of the schools.

( ) Schools worry about reptutation and so they see to it that the teachers they chose are the best.

( ) But the poor kids are the ones which don’t have this choice. They are welded as if to the teachers in public school that they have to spend years with.

( ) No choice for them. The government decides for you what teachers are going to teach you and because it is free, just keep silent and stop grumbling.

( ) Yes, unless they are doing something illegal or molesting or assaulting children the government is not going to sack them.

( ) The beauty of private schools or any private institution is that if you deliver you keep your job and if you don’t deliver, you lose your job.

( ) My mother had to give a demo lecture in a private school. The owner of the school came up and asked the students after she completed how they liked the lecture. It was only after he was sure that they had a good lecturer at hand that she was selected. Many other were rejected.

UPLOADING LECTURES  TO YOUTUBE:-
If I give you three options:-
1) A bad teacher but who will come to your home to teach you or he teaches you online or uploads his lectures on youtube.

2) A good teacher but you have to travel far to reach his destination.
You may still opt for option no 2

But lets see the 3RD option. A teacher who is good at whom you can meet online or whose lectures are uploaded online. You will definitely opt for this option.

ENCOURAGING PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS TO UPLOAD THEIR LECTURES ONLINE.

( ) This will make them care about their lectures and their teaching methods. The better their lectures are, the more money they earn through youtube. The more their bank balance.

( ) The sky is not the limit for a good teacher who can deliver quality lectures and upload them on youtube.

( ) The money thus gained through their own youtube channel will be an incentive for them to keep teaching better.

( ) This will help so many Malala Yousoufzadis trapped in the middle-east who can’t for one of the other reasons attend schools smoothly.

All they need now is an internet connection and lectures of American professors will reach them at their houses. Infact they can be given online exams to test their understanding.

( ) Moving education to the  internet will give children choice of teachers as well as make it more affordable for children across the world.

UNDERSTANDING THAT THE GOVERNMENT CANNOT FIX EDUCATION.

( ) Ronald Reagan once said that the one of the most dangerous thing that someone can come to your doorstep and tell you is that  ‘ I am from the government and I am here to help you’.

( ) Mind you this is the man who bought about the golden age of America, created 20 million jobs and the nation experienced a growth rate of about 7.4% .

( ) How did he do this ? Simple he understood something. How well a nation or civilization will grow will depend upon individuals and not the government.

( ) The government can only come in the way and increase taxation and make it more difficult for individuals to start companies and enterprises for the benefit of everyone.

( ) Ronald Reagan reduced the taxes for the private sector and for the people. The result. Industries had surplus amount of money . Many companies like Apple, Microsoft, Google grew during his regime. These were later to revolutionize the world of education forever.

( ) They all had one thing in common. They all started in a garage.

( ) On the other hand, the middle class had more money due to lower taxes so they could purchase whatever was being produced.

SO WHY DOES THE GOVERNMENT SCREW UP ROYALLY  EVERYTIME IT TRIES TO DO SOMETHING GOOD.

( ) Its due to lack of incentive.

( ) The government employees don’t care for how good their performance is because they don’t have to care.

( ) So be it a teacher working in a government school or any other sector , there is no reason for them to be awesome at what they do.

( ) They will get their paycheck no matter if they have succeded in create an ecosystem where a child falls in love with teaching or not.

( ) Private sector on the other hand functions on incentives. Steve Jobs is know to throw some of the earliest designs of the i-pod into a fish-tank.

( ) Air-bubbles came out of the device. He said to engineers,….you see that ? This means there is still space inside it. I want you to make the device so compact that there is no space for even air to enter the device inside.

( ) Engineers had no option but to keep trying and finally they succeeded.

( ) The result was a device that would fit well into your pocket.

Lack of incentives are what makes Government Schools so poor at delivering.

CREATING A SERVICE ORIENTED WEB OF EDUCATION THROUGHOUT THE WORLD.
( ) I often wondered why socialism never worked. One after another I saw countries getting ruined by socialism. I didn't understand why politicians were failing again and again

( ) Then I recollected a story I heard when I was a child.

STORY
A man after dying requested God he wanted to see what hell looks like.

( ) What he saw was people had all the food they wanted but their arms were tied to a rod in such a way that they could not bend their elbows. So they could not feed themselves. They were forced to licking the food. The food had fallen all over the ground.

( ) The people in hell had to lick the ground in order to eat. There were constant quarrels between themselves because at times one would borderline licking another persons food on the ground.

( ) The Man felt sad and said to God, now please show me how heaven looks like. God showed how heaven looked.

( ) To his surprise, the Man saw that in heaven also, people had their arms tied to a rod and could not bend their elbows. But what he saw was that people were feeding each other instead of licking it themselves.

( ) They couldn’t make their hands reach the morsel to their own mouth because their elbows couldn’t bend but they could make their rod-stiffed arms reach the mouth of the other person and the other person could inturn feed the first person with his own rod-stiffed arm.

( ) So by feeding each other, ✌they solved the problem. That is the reason why the capitalist countries have come up and the socialist and communist countries have failed.

( ) Perhaps nature or life or God wants us to help and create stuff for and serve each other and the more freedom people are given to do so the more successful the nation gets.

( ) China, a communist country for names-sake through building services and attracting industries helped 300 million people who were living in poverty slingshot to the middle class between 1978 to 2015.

( ) China did not put anyone on welfare. Whereas the United States spends 1 Trillion dollars every year on poor people, but the percentage of poor people is still constant.

( ) Because instead of giving poor people Jobs, it spends money on keep them poor with various welfare schemes. This is tying a person who has hurt his leg to a wheelchair for the rest of his life.

HOW PRIVATE SECTOR SCHOOLS CAN CHANGE EDUCATION.

( ) Instead of relying on the government to open schools for poor kids and thus welding these kids to teachers not interested in teaching and who don’t care, which will make the student hate the subject and hate education in general, there is a crying need for the private sector schools i.e individuals amongst  us to start schools which will give education to children amongst poor neighbourhoods.

( ) Teachers who really like teaching and student love and understand can be retained and others can be let go making way for new teachers who might be equally loving and who love teaching.

( )How can a teacher who doesn’t love his or her subject ever induce love into a students mind ? I don’t know.

( )You can’t induce in someone what you don’t have in yourself  first.

THE BEST WAY TO MAKE STUDENTS LEARN ….LET THEM TEACH.
( )Let the kids come together and make videos for other kids on youtube explaining them concepts of Math, Science, Economics, etc.

( )So imagine a world in which poor children of U.S make a video explaining concepts of Science to children of Afghanistan and Pakistan and India and Africa and imagine a world where children of Africa or Afghanistan make videos explaining concepts of Math and Science to children all across the world.

( )As they teach they will keep understanding. Such children will have a lower chance of leaving studies and will develop an  urge to understand new concepts.

( )So the trick sometimes is help others serve someone else. When they serve other people they become better people.

( )But when you keep serving them and keep serving them and keep playing big daddy for them, after a certain limit they become dependent upon you.

( )The trick is to teach them…that if you want to understand something,…help other understand that something.

( )If you want help,…help others and you will get the help you want.

THE CHALLENGE FOR PRIVATE SCHOOLS : REACHING OUT TO POOR NEIGHBORHOODS.

( )Although private schools may be the key, they are still expensive. Many private schools are just for the rich as if the concept of choice of teachers is only for the rich and not for the poor.

( )Luckily there are private schools which are taking up this cause and reaching out to poor kids. The best way to reach to the middle class from the poor class in the United States is to complete your graduation, get a job and not have children before marriage ,..according to the Brooklyns Institute of Education.

( )The best help we can give the poor kids is that help after which they wont require help at all. Instead of tying them up to a wheelchair called welfare for the rest of their lives.

THE CHALLENGE OF MASS PRODUCING SCHOOLS LIKE CARS OR CELL PHONES FOR POOR KIDS..
( ) The challenge would be to mass produce schools for kids belonging to low income families.

( ) A new charter school startup called RocketShip Education for example is trying to achieve the goal of mass producing good schools for children belonging to poor neighbourhoods.
